The innovative Plug-in Hybrid system that powers the Outlander PHEV delivers remarkable eco efficiency without compromising comfort, performance or convenience. Sophisticated yet, practical, it represents the next generation of electric cars. The new Outlander Plug-in Hybrid SUV brings you fuel efficiency like you've never experienced before in an SUV.
The new Outlander Plug-in Hybrid SUV brings you fuel efficiency like you've never experienced before in an SUV.
A highly efficient 2.0L MIVEC petrol engine paired with high output 60kW twin front and rear motors and a high capacity 12kWh drive battery can produce a combined fuel economy of 1.9L/100km.* That's remarkable for any car, let alone an SUV. And there's no loss of power and no loss of range.
PHEV offers an unbelievable cruising range.Around the suburbs or the city you can drive up to 50km a day in EV mode when fully charged. That's ZERO fuel and ZERO drive time emissions. You'll most likely need to charge every few days but that's as simple as plugging your PHEV into a 15 amp power point at home.
With its official ADR fuel economy rating of 1.9L/100km*, and unbelievable cruising range thanks to its new developed plug-in hybrid system, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is set to redefine perceptions of electric hybrid cars in Australia.
A high capacity drive battery under the floor, coupled with front and rear high-output motors, extends the EV cruising range and contributes to the kind of linear acceleration that only cars with electric motors are expected to deliver.
The Outlander PHEV is powered solely from electricity from the drive battery, using no petrol. EV mode is quiet, smooth and typically used in slow moving traffic conditions where traditional petrol engines are inefficient.
ECO Mode puts the air conditioner in energy-efficient mode and moderates acceleration to improve fuel efficiency.
You can be sure that every aspect of Outlander Plug-in Hybrid has been carefully engineered to protect both occupants and the environment. A waterproof casing around the battery pack and a special undercoating has been specifically designed for tough SUV driving conditions.
The electric motors still power the Outlander PHEV but the electricity comes from both the drive battery and the onboard generator. This mode will activate with rapid acceleration, hill climbing or when battery charging is required.
Both the electric motors and petrol engine provide power to the wheels. This mode typically occurs during high speed driving when petrol engine efficiency is high.
Separately mounted motors at the front and rear axles deliver incredibly responsive 4WD performance with S-AWC ensuring excellent driving stability and intuitive, linear handling.
The powerful, highly efficient MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system) engine minimises CO2 emissions while maintaining incredible responsive 4WD performance.
A high definition 4.2 inch colour LCD keeps you informed by displaying battery level, drive mode, PHEV system energy flow and more. A switch lets you toggle between display functions.
The Plug-in Hybrid PHEV Aspire cabin is an oasis of comfort and refinement where driving pleasure is heightened by generous legroom, sporty meters and a supremely quiet ride.
A Joystick type selector switch lever replaces the petrol model powered shift lever. It's designed to return to its central position after operation just like a joystick. The high-end gloss black and silver lever adds to the sophisticated look of the cabin.
Outlander PHEV is equipped with fully automatic climate control with separate temperature controls for driver and front passenger. Using an electric air conditioning compressor, the system can operate even when the engine is not running or be turned on remotely with the PHEV app from your smartphone.
In the Aspire, the front and second row seats use genuine leather upholstery for the main surfaces with a perforated pattern for sections, fit close to the body for enhanced comfort. The seat sides, backs and headrests use leather-look material. The driver's seat has 8-way adjustment; both front seats are heated and have seat back pockets for greater comfort and convenience.
Keyless entry allows you to press a button on the outside of the front doors or tailgate to unlock all the doors and tailgate. The one click power switch in the cockpit starts the Plug-in Hybrid EV System.
Convenient controls for the audio system and Bluetooth® hands-free mobile phone system are mounted on the steering wheel for easy-to-reach access.
The seats in PHEV are upholstered in leather-look and fabric black color scheme interior giving a sophisticated and premium quality look. The front and second row seat facing and back support surfaces use fabric while the bolsters, seat sides, seatbacks and headrests use a leather-look material.
Whatever combination of passenger and luggage you need to carry, Outlander PHEV can accommodate, thanks to the 60:40 split rear seats that can simply fold flat for an impressive 888L of very usable room.
The high-definition 7-inch WVGA screen displays easy-to-read, high-resolution Mitsubishi Multi Communication System (MMCS) images. The navigation system features 3D view capability which includes displaying 3D images of buildings and landmarks. There is also speed limit information on major roads.Your in-car surround sound audio system allows you play your music anyway you like; CD, SD card, Bluetooth or iPod.
For extra visibility in adverse weather conditions or tricky driving situations both PHEV models have fog lamps.
Lightweight alloy wheels with deep spokes enhance the styling on the lower half of the body.
Enjoy the sun and wind with the power sunroof, which features an anti-trapping function for safety.
Outlander PHEV features rain-sensing wipers that automatically detect moisture on the windscreen and activate the wipers at a speed appropriate to the amount of rain falling.
The tailgate can be opened and closed automatically from a switch located near the driver's seat or from the keyless entry remote.
When carrying the key, you can press a button outside of the front doors or tailgate to lock or unlock all the doors and tailgate.
Sensors automatically switch on the headlights when it gets dark or when travelling through a tunnel. That's fewer things to distract you from the road ahead.
Utilising 4WD technology forged by the Lancer Evolution, the S-AWC regulates the brakes and distributes power to the front and rear wheels, as well as the left and right wheels, to improve driving stability and handling precision in the most challenging of terrain.
Switching to 4WD drive lock mode distributes torque and limits wheels spin to improve traction and straight line stability on snow, dirt and other slippery road surfaces.
Outlander's radar is used to identify obstructions ahead and warn of a potential collision. If the risk remains, this system applies the brakes to mitigate a collision, FCM is available on Aspire only. Note: FCM is designed to help avoid or reduce the crash speed in certain frontal collisions. It is not a substitute for safe and careful driving.
When the vehicle in front alters its speed, so does your cruise control. The radar mounted in the grille matches Outlander PHEV's cruise control speed to whatever you're following with appropriate adjustments of brake or accelerator. Available on Aspire only. Note: The ACC is not a collision avoidance system or an automatic driving system.
ASC is standard on Outlander PHEV and controls delivery of drive and braking force to the four wheels to prevent skidding on slippery roads or when sudden steering changes are made. Through integrated control of S-AWC working with the ABS, ASC delivers greater stability with higher safety and comfort drive without effecting the superior cornering behavior from the Twin Motor 4WD and AYC systems.
An alarm function alerts pedestrians near the vehicle when driving with the engine off (because the vehicle runs so quietly). The alarm has a different pitch depending on vehicle speed.
When braking on a steep incline, HSA helps prevent you from rolling backwards while you release the brake by maintaining the braking force for up to two seconds until the accelerator is applied.
Warns the driver of nearby obstacles when reversing.
All of Outlander PHEV models come standard with: driver and front passenger SRS airbags, side and curtain SRS airbags and a driver knee SRS airbag to help protect you and your passengers in the event of a collision.
